Arlene Louise Gimigliano 1937-2017
Passed away on June 26, 2017 following a long illness. She was born to Anthony and Josephine Torkeo on Jan. 8, 1937 in Pittsburgh, Pa. Arlene graduated from Arnold High School in 1954. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and the D.T. Watson school of physical therapy in the spring of 1958. While at Pitt, Arlene was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority , a campus hostess and active in the University thespian club. Also while at Pitt, she met Joseph Gimigliano and they married in the fall of 1958. Arlene and Joe were longtime residents of Pittsburgh before relocating to North Canton, Ohio in 1979. Arlene worked as a physical therapist at the Home for Crippled Children (now the Children's Institute) for a number of years. She was also a member of the Junior League of Pittsburgh and later a member of the Women's Board of Aultman Hospital. Arlene was an avid tennis player for decades as well as an aspiring golfer. In their retirement years, Arlene and Joe enjoyed traveling including several trips to Italy as well as to Germany, Austria, France, England, Scotland, Ireland and Alaska.
Arlene was loving mother to daughter, Jane Koc (1963) of Shaker Heights, Ohio and John Gimigliano (1968) of Washington, DC. She was also a devoted grandmother to her four grandchildren, Christopher Koc, Josephine, Jacqueline and John Paul Gimigliano.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Reed Funeral Home NORTH CANTON Chapel, 801 Pittsburg Ave. NW, North Canton, Ohio 44720 with Rev. Msgr Lewis F. Gaetano officiating.
