Beatrice Vivian (Carter) Ladner
passed away at home with family on March 9, 2013 at 5 a.m. after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was 95. She was the mother of Dianne Rhodes McQuarrie and grandmother of four adult grandchildren, Kerry McQuarrie Grimes, Robert McQuarrie, Michael McQuarrie and Molly McQuarrie-Budd. Born in Middlebourne, Ohio, Dec. 1, 1917, Bea was the eldest daughter of John Wesley and Ethel (Dailey) Carter. She was proud sister to Richard (deceased), Kay (deceased), John Wesley Jr. (deceased), Joe, Herb (deceased), Charlie and Carroll. Bea graduated from Old Washington High School in Guernsey County, Ohio in 1936. Bea was known as a highly-motivated, independent and career-minded individual. She worked for Goodyear during World War II in Akron, Ohio. Bea also worked for Timken Roller Bearing in Canton, Ohio and the US FDA in Pittsburgh, Pa. and Glendale, Calif. She was awarded multiple Million Dollar Round Table Realtor awards for her many years of service as a real estate agent for Ken Meade in Sun City, Ariz. In 1945, Bea married Clare nce Rhodes and in 1948 the happy couple gave birth to a lovely daughter, Dianne. Clarence passed away in 1956. Bea later married Buford Ladner, who passed away in 1993. Bea was an active member of the Eastern Star. She loved to dance, travel and spend time with her family. Bea had a natural beauty, easy social grace, beautiful blue eyes and a smile that lit up a room.
Bea is survived by her daughter; three siblings; stepsons, James Rhodes and Dave Rhodes; and her four grandchildren.
