75, of Canton passed away on July 28, 2017. Benjamin was born on February 28, 1942 in Shinnston, W.Va. to the late Floyd and Ida Mae Tichnell. He retired from Union Local #1015 after 30 years of service.
Preceded in death by his brothers, Floyd, Edgar, Donald and Dave; sisters, Aretta Senchina, Laura Cooper, Hazel Shaffer, June Kososkie and Edith Marozzi; father and mother-in-law, Louis and Mary Peterson; sister-in-law, Alma Sue Hoiles; and brother-in-law, Robert Peterson. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Lou Tichnell; daughter, Brenda Lee Archer; brother, John (Carol) Tichnell; sisters-in-law, Jean (Al) Tucke, Barbara Nutter, Libby (Larry) Morgan, Fran (Bobby) Ross and Denise Tichnell; special special great-niece, Skylar Nutter (who called him pap pap); numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ciuffo and his staff at Mercy Medical Center and Dr. Firstenberg and his staff at Summa Akron City Hospital for their love and care. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday August 7, 2017 at Reed Funeral Home CANTON CHAPEL with Rev. Lance Lindenberger officiating. Family and friends may visit from 5-7 p.m. on Monday prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday August 8, 2017 at Calvary Cemetery.
