Bruce Wayne Hostetler, 73, of Navarre, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 after baking his last cherry pie. Bruce had a long battle against many illnesses and is now with his Lord and Savior.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Angelica (Keller) Hostetler; children, Lori (Christopher) Milligan of Doylestown, Bruce (Lisa) Hostetler Jr. of Dalton, James (Melanie) Hostetler of Niles and Cristina “Zumi” Hashizumi of Sao Paulo, Brazil; grandchildren, Allison Milligan, Gage Hostetler, Audrey Hostetler, Abigail Hostetler, Hayden Milligan, Riley Hostetler and Alex Hostetler; step grandchildren, Karleigh (Mark) Shaffer, Kayla Ellks, Kyle Ellks and Trey Richards; step great-granddaughter, Lola Shaffer; siblings, Sally (Levi) Miller, Gerald “Bub” (Sheryl) Hostetler Jr, Dean Hostetler, Terry (Linda) Hostetler, Linda Hostetler and Rodney (Susie) Hostetler; step siblings, Debbie Gamba and Rhonda Drennen; step sister-in-law, Jean Ledsome; mother-in-law, Gabrielle Keller; sister-in–laws, Barbara (Joe) Longo and Julia (Mark) Wight; special nephews, Greg and Kevin Hostetler; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors that held a special place in his heart. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Mabel Hostetler; step mother, Hazel Hostetler; sister-in-law, Christa Keller; brother-in-law, Bernard Keller; and step brother, Ora “Butch” Ledsome.
Bruce was an Army veteran and was employed at Superior Meats for 19 years and Advanced Bronze before retiring. He was a faithful member of St. James Cross Roads Church. Bruce could fix anything, was a friend to everyone and never met a lottery ticket he wouldn‘t scratch. He got great enjoyment out of spending time with family and friends, working on his clocks, watching the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers, gardening, baking, playing with his cat “Bat Man” and going out to eat at Menches. Bruce battled many illnesses over the last several years with great support and care from Dr. Dustin Fox and the nurses at Wound Care Center (Affinity Medical Center), Dr. Pyramod Bhargava, Dr. Jehad Y. Asfoura, the staff at Davita Dialysis, Dr. Mathew Todd Miller, Dr. William Seese, Dr. Wayne Gross, Dr. Gregory Johnson and the nursing staff at Affinity Medical Center, Family Practice Center of Orrville, Ohio. These medical professionals never gave up on Bruce and gave him hope and more time with his beloved family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Spidell Funeral Home in Brewster with Rev. William Andrick officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Cross Roads Church, P.O. Box 357, Navarre, OH 44662.
