Donald J. Lung, Sr. 1933-2017
age 83 of Massillon, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at The Inn at Northwood Village in Dover, Ohio. He was born November 26, 1933, in Canton, the son of the late Ralph Lung and Juanita (Brown) Lorenzano. Don retired from Ohio Bell in 1985 and was a member of Dueber United Methodist Church. Don was actively involved in the sports outreach ministry at Dueber and served at Salem United Methodist. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Marine Corp. He was also a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Don is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathleen (Evans) Lung; children, Donald (Amanda) Lung, Jr.; Nancy (Stephen) Conway, Carol (Scott) Lung-Paskoff; sister, Barbara Haney; sister-in-law, Renee L. Lung; grandchildren, Kenneth, Nicholas and Sarah Lung, Douglas, Katelyn, Jillanne and Daniel Conway, Rhiley Paskoff, and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step-father, Louis A. Lorenzano; step-mother, Beulah Lung; brother, Ralph "Sonny" Lung; and half brother, Leland J. Lung.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Dueber United Methodist Church, 645 Dueber Ave., Canton, Ohio 44706 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Chet Harris officiating. Calling hours will be held at the church prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Burial to follow the service with military honors at Sunset Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dueber United Methodist Church, Sports Ministry Programs. Condolences to the family may be made at www.heitger.com
