Donald William Clark Obituary
Donald William Clark
Age 83, of Canton went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, after his valiant fight against cancer. His strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends enabled him to savor every moment God blessed him with while here on earth. Don was born in Canton on June 8, 1929 to the late Russell and Birdine Clark. He was a 1947 graduate of Timken High School. Don joined the National Guard and was later deployed with the Army through the 987th Field Artillery and was honorably discharged in 1952 as a Master Sergeant. An accomplished and prominent businessman, Don will be remembered for his impeccable work ethic and expertise in home building. He was the president and owner of Ed Williams Lumber Co., Clark Group Inc., Delocon Wholesale, numerous other businesses in Ohio, New York, and Indiana, and a pioneer in the business of home improvement centers and bringing fabricated cabinetry to the job site. Throughout his life he mentored many and will be fondly remembered for his exceptional kindness and generosity. Don loved being outdoors and by the seashore, enjoyed fishing, boating, watercolor painting, inventing, and his disciplined and inspirational exercise routine. He especially enjoyed time spent with his wife, Nikki at their seashore home and took delight in the comfort of his three feline friends. He attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Foley, Ala. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Donna Jean Clark.
Don is survived by his wife, Nikki Langdon-Ergon Clark; daughters, Roberta (Marty) Pickens, Darlene (Timothy) Fleishour, and Susan (Richard) Maioriello; sister, Shirley (Richard) Corbit; 10 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. "His Lord said unto him, Well done, good friend and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: Enter thou into the joy of the Lord." Matthew 25:23
A Celebration service of Don's abundant life will take place Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at First Friends Church, (5455 Market Avenue, North). In keeping with Don's belief to go quietly while doing the Lord's work; no flowers will be accepted, only memorial contributions. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Don's healthcare "team", especially Dr. K. Werstler, Dr. Trehan, Aultman Palliative Care, Aultman Hospice, and Fulton Drugs.
