Dorothy J. "Dottie" Corey Obituary
Dorothy J. “Dottie” Corey
Dottie went to be went to with the Lord on Tuesday June 13th. She left us suddenly, doing something she loved: landscaping around her home. Her two musical boys Jeff, the trumpet player, and Matt, the saxophonist, were her pride and joy. She retired from the Crenshaw Middle School several years ago and had spent her time volunteering wherever she could help. She spent time at area nursing homes playing the piano and sharing her two little dogs. She loved children and spent time volunteering as a teachers aide helping primary schoolers with their reading skills. She also loved working with the children at her church, Trinity Gospel Temple. Many knew her as the lady that painted faces of little kids for over a decade of the Hall of Fame Ribs Burnoff.
Dottie was a lifetime Canton resident whom grew up in the Meyers Lake Area. She always spoke fondly of her memories of the amusement park, ballroom, and the Moonlight gardens. A graduate of Lincoln High School, she embarked on several different career paths starting in cosmetology and eventually retiring from food service in the schools and with all of her friends at Mr Mikes catering. After the loss of her oldest son Jeff, she became very active in suicide prevention and support services and even wrote a short story that she shared with area crisis centers in hopes to save lives.
Dottie was a wonderful lady who always put helping others before herself and she will be missed by many.
She leaves behind two sisters Barb (Rupple) and Ruth (Swartz); husband Murval Jr (Beanie); a son Matt, and many neices and nephews.
A homegoing service will be held at the Trinity Gospel Temple on Friday June 23, at 11 a.m. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. In Lieu of Flowers please make donations in Dottie's name to her church, the Trinity Gospel Temple
