Edward M. Christman Obituary
Edward M. Christman 1923-2017
93, of Bolivar, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar with his family by his side. He was born on Sept. 4, 1923, to the late Louis and Anna (Clouse) Christman and married Kathleen M. Allman on Oct. 5, 1958. She preceded him in death June 6, 1979. Ed served his country in the U.S. Army where he was deployed to Germany during World War II. He was a member of the Bolivar American Legion and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bolivar. He retired in 1982 from the Timken Company following 33 years of service. He was a lifelong farmer and all who knew him, can attest that farming was his one true love and passion. He took great pride in reaping the harvest and sharing with his family and community. As one of his legion friends declared, “Ed was a legend in Bolivar”.
He is survived by sons: David L. Christman of Dennison, Edward J. (Eva) Christman of Bolivar and Ernest P. (Sally) Christman of Canton; granddaughters: Michelle (Scott) Beadnell of Bergholtz, Amber (David) Mellinger of Dundee, Ashley Reynolds of Bergholtz and Kaytee (Nathan) Beachy of Loudonville; five great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas W. Christman; two sisters; and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bolivar with Rev. Mike Pozzuto officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Laurens Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Bolivar American Legion. Friends may call on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home, 248 Park Avenue, Bolivar. The family would like to thank the staff of Cross Roads Hospice and Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar for their kind and loving care. Online guest registration and condolences may be left on the funeral home website.
