Elizabeth Jane Dennis
90, of Canton passed away on Sept. 10, 2017 at Altercare of Navarre. Elizabeth was born in Canton. Graduated from Canton Township (South) High School in 1945. She attended Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., and St. Louis Institute of Music. She was a retired piano teacher who loved both the profession and students. Elizabeth was formerly a member of Waco Epworth Methodist Church as a youth leader and Sunday school teacher. For many years she was active in Canton District United Methodist Women's Organization. Since 1960 she was a member of Dueber United Methodist Church and was involved in Sunday school teaching. Her interests are family, reading, church, devotee of nature and music.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Inez Tilton; infant son, Timothy Dennis; brothers, Daniel R. (Eleanor) Tilton and Emett R. (Eileen) Tilton; sister, Sally Ann Swigart. Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Robert E. Dennis, married 67 wonderful years; sons, Douglas E. (Sandra) Dennis and Gregory D. (Shirley) Dennis; grandchildren, Christy (Erich) Weiss, Douglas (Veronica) Dennis (who are missionaries in Venezuela), Melissa, Danielle and Jacob Dennis; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Audrianna Weiss and James and Ana Dennis; and brother-in-law, Glen (Rosanne) Swigart.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Doug Dennis Ministries c/o 3022 Pine Hills Dr SW Massillon, OH 44646. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Reed Funeral Home (CANTON CHAPEL). Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Dueber United Methodist Church (645 Dueber Ave SW Canton 44706) with Rev. Dr. Chester Harris officiating.
