Emmett G. Shaffer Jr. 1934 - 2017
age 83 of Tuscarawas Twp., went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ, on Friday, September 22, 2017 following an extended illness.
He was born April 11, 1934, in Massillon, the son of the late Emmett G. and Dorothy (Klett) Shaffer Sr.
Emmett was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Navy. He was a retired brick mason.
He was a lifelong member of the Stanwood Community Church where he served in many roles.
Emmett is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy A. (Agler) Shaffer, son James (Diana) Shaffer, daughters Jacqueline (Tom) Agler and Jodi (Tony) Egan, eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Mary Wills and Margaret Piech
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 11 A.M. at Stanwood Community Church with Pastor Matt Ellington officiating. Burial will follow at Stanwood Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel and on Thursday at the church from 10 to 11 A.M. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Stanwood Community Church, 14715 Stanwood St. S.W., Navarre, Ohio 44662.
