Imogene S. Holzer
78 of Canton, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Astoria Nursing Home after a long illness. Imogene was born in New Boston, Ohio, on April 8, 1934, to Clarence and Ruth (Sanford) Staten. She schooled and later retired as an LPN from Timken Mercy. She was a gracious woman, who loved helping people and enjoyed bowling, bingo, and casinos. Imogene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She was admired for her strong mind, vibrant sense of humor, cheerful smile, and her wonderful welcoming personality. Imogene is preceded in death by brothers, Ray, Clarence, Chester, Ralph and Earl Staten, and sisters, Lunata Parker, Darlene Sparks and Helen Tayler.
She is survived by husband, John A. Holzer Jr.; children, Ricky (Tanya) Ison, Cheryl (Ray) Skotnicky, Stephen (Mary) Ison, Perry Ison, Craig (Wanda) Ison, John (Adele) Holzer III; siblings, George (Joyce) Staten, Janet (Jim) Sexton, Mary (Harold) Smith, and Donna (Ron) Nichols; granddaughters, Tiffany (Gene) Skotnicky, Courtney (Curt) Baumann, Kari (Darell) Corin, April, Angela, and Ashley Ison; grandsons, Stephen (Ashton) Ison, Kyle (Jessie) Skotnicky, Daniel (Kourtney) Allshouse, Todd (Melanie) Poirier, Brandon Ison, Samantha Hammock; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the Reed Funeral Home, 705 Raff Rd. S.W., Canton, Ohio, with Chaplain Charles Cooper officiating, where friends may call from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Imogene Holzer's name to Great Lakes Caring Hospice Foundation, 900 Cooper St. Jackson, MI 49202, Attn: Melissa Hopkins.
