Jack B. Brown
age 84, of Canton, Ohio went home to be with the Lord Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Walnut Hills Nursing Home, Walnut Creek, Ohio. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 at Berlin Christian Fellowship, 5382 County Road 201, Berlin, OH 44610 with Pastor David Stutzman officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio.
He was born Jan. 28, 1929 in Canton, Ohio and was the son of Stacy and Gladys (Yant) Brown. On June 19, 1949 he married Dora Brant and she survives. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army from 1950 to 1952. In 1956, Jack founded Jeffry's Marine Supply in Canton, Ohio. He worked along side his son until the business closed in 2009. He was a member of the Berlin Christian Fellowship and a freelance minister for BCF and the Villa. He also worked and ministered at an all girls group home in Canton for six years. He established one of the first soup kitchens at Christ Presbyterian Church, Canton, Ohio and branched other soup kitchens from there. Jack loved being on the water, boating and fishing. He was a master crafter, enjoyed woodworking, gardening, cooking and loved family get togethers on the farm.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Dora is a son, Jeffry B. (Donna) Brown of Canton, Ohio; two granddaughters and their spouses, Michelle (Brian) Simpson and Heather (Mike) McClure, both of Canton, Ohio five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Marian Brown of Orlando, Fla.; two nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bill Brown; and a nephew, Bill. The family would like to thank the Walnut Hills staff for the outstanding care and love they showed towards Jack and for the care and love they continue to give his wife , Dora.
