James Delbert Gum
50, of Grass Run Rd., Salem departed this life on Feb. 2, 2014 in Massillon, Ohio. He was born on Oct. 22, 1963 in Orrville, Ohio, a son of the late Willis Harold and Dora Seese Gum.
On Nov. 7, 1998 he married Julie Todd Gum who survives. Also surviving is three sons, Scott Gum and wife, Natasha of Clarksburg, Willis Gum and wife, Heather of Salem, Jack Gum and wife, Vicky of Salem; four grandchildren, Hunter, Hayleigh, Brandi and Dora Gum; three sisters, Mary Huggins and husband, Daryl of West Union, Becky Helmuth and husband, Dwight of Brewster, Ohio, Pamela Gum of Mt. Eaton, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and two great-nieces. James had been employed at Southern States in Clarksburg as a dock hand for 11 years and had served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and all sports.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Doug Joseph presiding. Interment will follow in the Christian Church Cemetery in Center Point. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Friday after 11 a.m. until time of service.
