James E. Murphy 1930-3017
87, of North Lawrence, died “Together Again”
Sunday, July 15, 2017, at Compassionate Care Center in Canton. He was born April 23, 1930 in Wharncliffe, W.Va., to the late Charles and Ada (Haught) Murphy and has lived in North Lawrence since 1958. James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. He received the Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals. He was employed as a Pipeline Welder for many years before his retirement.
He married Helen L. Murphy on May 29, 1958, and she preceded him in death in 1997. James was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union #94 and the Sons and Daughters of Hermon. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going to auctions.
Surviving are sons: John Heidt of North Lawrence, Jake (Amy) Heidt of Massillon and Michael (Becky) Murphy of Wooster; daughters: Kathy Murphy of North Lawrence and Diane (Mike) Burrows of Ravenna; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brother, Bob (Josie) Murphy of McFarland, W.Va.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; daughter-in-law, Carol Heidt; brothers: Lawrence, Maynard and Mug Murphy; and sisters, Pat and Mamie.
Services will be held Thursday, July 20, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Auble Funeral Home, 512 E. Oak Street, Orrville, with Pastor Nelson Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Newman Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19th., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Center, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. N.W., Canton, OH 44708.
