Jeanne Mahoney Cullen
92, died at her home in Canton Thursday.R.D. Cullen, her husband preceded her in death Jan. 2010. Jeanne was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Her parents, Edith and Edward A. Mahoney moved to Canton when Jeanne was very young. Jeanne attended Mount Marie High School, now Central Catholic (Canton). She graduated and went on to Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in Morningside Hts, New York City and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sociology. After WWII, she married the love of her life, Ronald D, Cullen from Boston, Mass. and enjoyed 65 years. together. Jeanne and Ron were hands on parents of their five children. Edee Carnevale (Allen) of Princeton, N.J., Anne Tormey (Tom) of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Jos. R (Laura) Cullen of Atlanta, Ga., R. Dennis (Monica) Cullen of Maplewood, N.J. and Kathryn Reading Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Amanda Innis ,Gibbs and Joe Jr Cullen, Monica Jennings, Grace Dalton, Mary Walker, Jeanne Maher and Roy Cullen, Erin and Rachel Reading; and her nephew Edward A. Mahoney III.
Jeanne was a long standing member of Junior League, past President of Canton Museum of Art Board of Trustees and Emeritus member, active Volunteer Angels of CMA, Children's Aid past president, Shipley Children's Clinic, Walsh Univ. Women Board, Woman of Year recipient sponsored by Jr. League, past president of former Visiting Nurse Board, Volunteer Timken Mercy Service League, CMA Women's Guild, one of the original women to hold Brookside Country Club membership, and St. Michael Parish, Line and Design, Canton Garden Club.
Her sweet husband and her family were of the utmost significance in her life. Her grandchildren made her smile and she loved hearing of all their accomplishments. Jeanne enjoyed playing bridge with friends, read books constantly and was active in her book club, enjoyed mid-week booth at Bender's, was an avid tennis player in earlier days, and being  with 'Duck' (Ron) was her favorite!
Jeanne will be missed immeasurably; she was bigger than life, the Duchess of Stark County! More importantly, her family, her friends, her Caring Hearts nurses and Canton are heartbroken in her absence.
Calling hours will be 9 a.m., one hour prior to the funeral mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at St Michael's Catholic Church, 3430 St Michael's Dr. N.W. and Fulton, Canton (330-492-3119), with Fr. Donald E. King as celebrant. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Massillon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Michael's Building Fund, Canton Museum of Art, or  Caring Hearts Healthcare Inc. The Wackerly Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
