Jerry Coleman Obituary
Jerry Coleman

September 24, 1951–August 5, 2018

Jerry Wayne Coleman took his last breath on Sunday, August 5th at the age of 66. He leaves behind his wife Pamela K. Coleman, as well as his children, Seann and Selena. He was Papa Jerry to his grandchildren – Kameron, Owen, Lincoln, and Connor – whose time with him was far too short.

Those who knew Jerry knew certain things – He loved nothing above his wife; he could recite any sports statistic past or present; and his life work was to provide for his family. He was fiercely dedicated to the incredible woman he married, a woman who would go on to show the true meaning of for better or worse - becoming not only his spouse but his nurse, his caregiver, his eyes when he lost his sight, his voice when he couldn't speak. Truly, never has there been a more admirable union than that of these two. Jerry's devotion to her lasted until his passing, when his concern was not for himself but for her in going on without him.

While his suffering has ended, ours has begun and we grieve the man we lost. No matter the weight of our sadness, it is eased by our relief that he now rests in the arms of the Lord, free of his pain. As he knew his time was ending, he spoke with joy of being reunited in Heaven with his father Kenneth, who passed when Jerry was just 18, and his mother Myrtle -both of whom he knew awaited him with open arms.

Along with his parents, he smiled knowing he would again see his siblings gone before him (John, Roger, Phillip, Kenneth, Elizabeth, Gary). To his sisters left behind – Annette, Ione, Madelyn- he loved you deeply.

It has been said that we understand death for the first time only when he puts his hands upon one whom we love. We will forever miss this man – a father, uncle, grandfather, husband, and friend. A good man, he taught us to not only be dreamers, but doers. We were changed by his life, and now are changed by his death. Until we meet again. "Truly, truly I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life" ~ John 5:24
