John F. Slutz
age 70, of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly at Affinity Medical Center. He was born in Massillon on April 29, 1943 to the late Martin W. and Anna M. (McKitrick) Slutz. John worked as a Production Manager for Perry Rubber/Ansel - Perry until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Moose Lodge 481 and the Sons of Herman. John was a compassionate, respectful and honorable man. He would give the shirt off his back to those in need. He was dedicated to his grandchildren and family. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. You could always find John in the side yard listening to a Cleveland Indians game. He never missed his grandchildren's sporting events or activities. John especially enjoyed playing cards on Wednesdays with his 'card club'. John touched the lives of many. John proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shelia K. (Barker) Slutz, whom he married on June 11, 1966; their three sons, Randy (Tina) Slutz of Massillon, John M.D. (Michelle) Slutz of Green and Jamie Slutz of Massillon; eight grandchildren, Brittany, Tiffany, Bryce, Hannah, Sydney, Brandon, Jared and Mallory; seven sisters, Dot, Ada, Glenda, Katherine, Betty, Becky and Judy; his lifelong friends, Sam Spicocchi, Dick Holland and Tom Groff; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Billy and George; and a sister, Roseann.
Friends may call at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home.
