John W. "Jack" Krosse Obituary
John "Jack" W. Krosse 1921-2017
age 96, of Marshallville, died Friday, June 2, 2017, at his home in Marshallville, following a period of declining health. Jack was born on March 3, 1921, in Jersey City, N.J., to the late John O. and Ella (Shannon) Krosse. He graduated from Notre Dame Cathedral Latin High School in Mentor, Ohio in 1938; and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He graduated from the University of Rochester, N.Y., with a Bachelor of Science Degree, with a major in Mechanical Engineering with distinction and in 1946 began work as manager of manufacturing engineering at Goodyear Aerospace in Akron for 33 years, retiring in 1979. He married Rita Wolfe on Feb. 15, 1947, in Akron, Ohio. John was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Massillon where he attended daily mass and was active for 30 years with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was also a lifetime member of the Sons of Herman and had also been a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of Toastmaster's International and will be remembered for his great sense of humor. He enjoyed sailing, golfing and feeding the birds. He tirelessly worked for those less fortunate than him and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are seven children: Joan (Charles) Pizzi of Pottstown, Pa., Kathleen (Anthony) Kozar of Massillon, John P. (Patti) Krosse of Ketchikan, Ark., Michael (Cathie) Krosse of Massillon, Theresa Taylor of Massillon, Sarah (Jerry) Peterman of Orrville, and Marjorie (Randy) McGlothlin of Jeromesville; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife, Rita Krosse, on Aug. 15, 2005; son, James Krosse; daughter, Jennifer Krosse; brother, Albert Krosse; and sisters, Nancy Creem and Mary Sankovitch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 206 Cherry Road N.E., Massillon, Fr. Edward Gretchko officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Following the services, cremation will take place and the ashes will be buried in the St. Mary's Church Cemetery. Auble Funeral Home in Orrville is handling the arrangements.
