Joseph A. Schiavone
age 86, of Silver Lake, passed away early Saturday, May 25, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph was born Oct. 21, 1926 in East Canton to the late Pasquale and Adeline (Trombetta) Schiavone. He was a veteran of the US Army serving stateside during World War II. Joseph was a graduate of Kent State University earning a Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Music, and Masters of Music degrees; he also received his Juris Doctor degree from Akron University School of Law. He was a member of St. Eugene's Parish. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Richard D. Schiavone DDS.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Frances Mandala Schiavone; his children, Anne (Timothy) Carnahan, Patrick Schiavone, Tracy (Frederick) Ondarza; his sister, Anne Maccora; his sisters-in-law, Jane Schiavone and Eleanor Iacobelli; his grandchildren, Christian and Alexander Ondarza and Isaac Schiavone; and many devoted nieces and nephews. Mr. Schiavone was a music teacher for 34 years in the Ravenna School District as well as a private music teacher in the Akron area. His passion and love of music defined his career which began at age 11 when he first joined the musician's union and included playing with the Akron Symphony Orchestra. He loved jazz, and classical music especially Mozart
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home, 3333 Kent Rd at Rt. 91 in Stow. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Eugene's Catholic Church, 1821 Munroe Falls Ave. Inurnment Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
