Joyce Lee Clifford
age 69, of Canton, went Home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 6, 2017. She was born in Louisville, Ala., on Sept. 28, 1947 to the late, Jesse Dan James, Sr., and Willie Lee (Blakely) James. Joyce was a 1965 graduate of Canton McKinley High School and went on to work for over 30 years at the Hoover Company, retiring in 2004. She was a very active member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she was on the usher board and was the decorator. Joyce was an avid bowler and was a member of TNBA Bowling and the Rhoden Memorial Bowling League. She was the President of Queen Esthers Village, where she resided. She enjoyed making flower arrangements, cleaning and taking care of others. She did a lot of work in the home health care field, helping others with chores and will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Nariah Christine Clifford-Bowen. She leaves her two daughters, Lashelle Clifford and Shrita Clifford-Boler (Michael); grandchildren, Christopher Eric Fite and Kameron DePriest Boler; siblings, Leida Lee James, Willie Mae Parker (Frank) and Jesse James Jr.; step brother, Jerry Chaney (Diane) and several nieces and nephews and many dear close friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1909 3rd St. NE Canton, OH 44704, with Pastor Kennedy Dennard officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in her name, to the Jerusalem Baptist Church. The Reed Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
