Mrs. Julia Turansky DiFolco 1923-2017
passed away peacefully the evening of Sept. 13, at St. Margaret Hall Assisted Living facility in Cincinnati. Julie was born in Canton, Ohio, Jan. 9, 1923, to Sophie and Adam Turansky. As her father moved the family around in search of jobs during the Great Depression, she grew up in Webster, Mass., and New York City, and eventually moved back to Canton with her parents and four of her five siblings. She worked at Timken Roller Bearing Company until her marriage in 1946.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Ida Buksar, Milan Turansky, Josette Pope, Rudolph Turansky, and her twin, Louis Turansky. She is survived by her children, Fr. Thomas DiFolco of Cincinnati, Jane DiFolco Parker (Bill) of Auburn, Ala., and Dennis DiFolco (Donna) of Fairbanks, Alaska. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Ashley DiFolco Gleissner (Jimmy) of Atlanta, Ga., and Jenna and Eric DiFolco of Fairbanks, Alaska. In addition, she is survived by nieces and nephews, Nancy Fry of Colorado; David Turansky (Cinda) of Canton; Sharon Turansky of California; Steve Turansky (Karen) of California; Andrew Buksar of Massachusetts; and Janice Brady of Massachusetts.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Sept. 20, at St. Margaret Hall, 1960 Madison Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio. Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m., and the Funeral Mass will be at 7:00 p.m., followed by a reception in the Garden Room at St. Margaret Hall. Julie's ashes will be inurned at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon, Ohio, Friday, Sept. 22, at 10:00 a.m. Memorial gifts may be made in Julie's memory to the St. Joan of Arc School Special Projects Fund, 120 Bordner Ave., S.W., Canton, Ohio 44710. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Sisters and staff at St. Margaret Hall for their care, kindness, and support during our mother's time there.
