Kenneth John Floom Sr. Obituary
Kenneth John Floom Sr.
who trusted Jesus as his Savior has been promoted to his eternal home. He's now with Jesus along with all who placed their trust in Him. He peacefully passed Father's Day morning while sleeping. His life was characterized by his own claim of having three loves,” God, family and country.” He was happily married to Vivian Mary (Frith) Floom for 57 years before she proceeded him into the arms of her Savior. Together they laid a firm foundation following one of the scriptural passages: “ Proverbs 20:7 The godly walk with integrity; blessed are their children who follow them.” They were blessed with nine children: Charlene Lange, Melinda Floom, Vivian Floom, Kenneth Floom Jr., Gregory Floom, Deborah Sprit, Mary Jo Maxwell, Norman Floom and Barbara Ream; they also had 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. They enjoyed many activities together including: Square Dancing, Ballroom Dancing, Card Playing, Bowling, and traveling. Ken, as one of the members of the Greatest Generation, served in the army during World War II seeing duty in Europe. He attained the rank of staff sergeant and received the bronze star for heroic service. After returning from the war, he began his career as an electrician, working well into his 70's. He walked daily to St.Paul's Catholic Church where he attended mass during his retired life. He grew and sold sweetcorn from the late 40's ‘till he reached the age of 96. He loved to talk with his customers, tell them a joke and finish with “Love God, be happy and pray for the unborn”.
He will be greatly missed as a fine example of a man who loved, God, his family and country. In lieu of flowers please make donations to: _Ohio Right To Life; 88 East Broad Street, Suite 620; Columbus, OH 43215 (www.ohiolife.org). And of course he wanted everyone to remember, “Do your best, let God take care of the rest, and don't worry.”
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Saint Paul Catholic Church (North Canton), with Monsignor James Clarke as celebrant. Entombment will be in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. Condolences may be made to:
