Leon Cote Obituary

Leon “Lee” Cote 1939-2016
Age 76, of Canton, died peacefully and unexpectedly at home on August 8, 2016. He was born December 12, 1939 in Holyoke, Mass. to Lena and Henry Cote. Lee was a proud United States Air Force Veteran and a New England Patriots Super Fan. He was an active member of the Canton Ex-Newsboys Association and a regular advocate for Ward 8 at Canton City Council Meetings. As a leader of the O.U.R. Neighborhood Association, Lee worked alongside local youth doing lawn work and distributing the neighborhood newsletter. He was known by all as an affable, gregarious guy. He never met a stranger.
Lee is survived by his loving, longtime companion, Alice Sarver; two sons, Lee of Nevada and Michael (Catherine) of Mass.; grandchildren, Cassidy and Michael; sister, Cosette Wiedenroth of Ariz.; brother, Norman (Susan) of Va. and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Carl Wiedenroth and his first wife, Georgia. He will be remembered fondly by Alice's children and grandchildren.
A private wake will be held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lee's memory to the Canton Ex-Newsboys Association, P.O. Box 20124, Canton, OH, 44701. You may sign the guest book at shriverfuneralhomes.com.
