Lucille H. Morrison Obituary
Lucille "Lou" H. Morrison
95 years old, died May 26, 2017 in Canton. She was born on Jan. 12, 1922 in Canton, Ohio. Preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Charles C. Morrison; parents, Hazel and Elmer Hendershot; and sisters, Deanie Veitch and Corrine Carlton. Lucille is survived by sons, Rick (Mary) Morrison and Kim (Diane) Morrison; granddaughter, Tracy (Ben) Dickens; cousin, Ron Schaedler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the first graduating class of Timken Vocational High School in 1940. She enjoyed camping with family and friends, first in a tent, then in a motor home, and crisscrossed the country visiting every state except Alaska. She was always proud to be a member of the Rinky Dinks camping group. During World War II she took a train to San Francisco by herself to see her husband before he was deployed to the Pacific, and she exemplified this trait of fearlessness throughout the rest of her life. Upon returning home from California, she worked in the steel mills as part of the war effort and then went on to work at Fisher Foods until her retirement.
She was a longtime member of the Berean Class, Keenagers, and the Ladies Missionary Society at First Christian Church. She lived her faith by doing for and helping others. For 15 years, she and her husband Charlie were in charge of organizing and delivering 100 Christmas baskets to shut-ins for the church. They both were long time volunteers at the Canton Christian Home, where she eventually resided. The way she lived her life and treated others has taught us so much about unconditional love, strength, and finding joy and beauty in the small things.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Canton Christian Home (2550 Cleveland Ave NW 44709) where services will be held at 12 p.m. with Pastor Ron Iwanusa officiating. Interment will take place at Sunset Hill Memory Garden. The family invites you to visit www.reedfuneralhome.com to read the obituary, sign the online guestbook and share fond memories.
