beloved wife and mother, passed away on Dec. 1, 2012, in Columbus, Ohio. Eileen, as she preferred to be called, died after a brief illness. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 23, 1920 to Charles E. and Thelma Nutt. Mrs. George graduated from Columbus North High School and attended Ohio State University, where she met her husband, Dr. Ray E. George, who was attending Ohio State College of Dentistry. They were married on Dec. 31, 1940, in Follansbee, W.Va. After finishing school, Eileen and Ray lived in Dana Point, Calif. until the end of World War II and then returned in 1946 and settled in Ray's hometown of Carrollton to start his dental practice and raise their family of eight children. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carrollton, Eastern Star, Carroll-Stark County Dental Auxiliary and a Charter Member of the Atwood Yacht Club. She was also a founding member of the Carrollton Schools PTA and a Paul Harris Fellow (Rotary International) and volunteered her time to various organizations in the Carrollton Community for the many years she lived there. Eileen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Ray E. George and their oldest daughter, Connie (Paul) McGhee, as well of her parents and sister, Dorothy Gene Snyder and brother, E. Alan Nutt.
She is survived by her children, Margie (Steve) Deardourff, Ray (Suzanne) George, Kathie (Deryl) Johnston, Amie George Reid, Julie George, Laurie (Garry) Litt, Nancie George; and 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, Dec. 7 from 4-7 p.m. at the Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home in Carrollton. Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Carrollton First Presbyterian Church, 200 N. Lisbon St. followed by the burial at the Carrollton Westview Cemetery. The Reverend Harold Steindam of the Westerville Community United Church of Christ will be officiating.
