Mary M. (Miller) Beckert
Age 91, passed away at her residence on Monday, March 24, 2014, after a brief illness. Mary was born in Canton on Oct. 6, 1922, to the late Lloyd and Cecilia (Lux) Miller. She was a 1940 graduate of East Canton High School and graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1943. Mary spent a year and a half with the Army Nurse Corps. in San Antonio, Texas. She retired from Aultman Hospital in 1984, after 24 years of employment as a nurse. She was a lifelong member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Mary loved spending time with family, playing cards, cheering for the Cleveland Indians, and taking many pictures. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, John F. 'Skip' Beckert, III; three sisters and their husbands, Jean (James) McDonald, Gloria (Raymond) Wallace, and Audree (Jack) Gilford; and many aunts and uncles.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Christine (Russ) Long, of Orange, Mass., Kathy (Billy Jack Barnett) Bramlett, and Debbie Winger; son, Phillip L. (Maryann) Beckert, of Wayne, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd 'Red' (Carol) Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 28, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church (4940 W. Tuscarawas St., Canton, OH 44708) with Rev. Fr. G. David Weikart as Celebrant. Friends and family may call on Friday, from 8:30-10:15 a.m., AT THE CHURCH. Burial will follow with military honors in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the St. Joan of Arc Food Cupboard or the . Services under the direction of, Mark R. Vrabel Funeral Home, North Canton, Ohio (330-452-4041).
