Nicholas A. Mutu 1944-2017
73, of North Canton, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at Mercy Hospital. Nick was born in Pampa, Tesxas, on March 17, 1944, to Nicholas A. and Ethel E. (Richards) Mutu. Nick was a caring son, devoted husband and a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling, the outdoors and was a lifelong animal lover. He was also a classic car enthusiast and attended many car shows with his Corvette's. A Canton native, Nick enlisted in the USMC in 1969. While in the service he was an Accountant, Drill Instructor and a Club Manager. He was overseas in Japan and Okinawa. After 20 years of service he retired in 1989 with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. He was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Ann (Mutu) Grunz; mother, Ethel E. (Richards) Mutu, and father, Nicholas A. Mutu.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joan E. (Butler) Mutu; son, Nicholas A. Mutu; and daughter, Elizabeth K. (Mutu) Hollis; grandchildren, Lana and Benjamin Hollis; and numerous other relatives around the U.S.
Calling hours will be held in Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel, 801 Pittsburg Ave. N.W., North Canton, Ohio 44720 on Friday, August 11, 2017, from 3-5 p.m., with services to follow at 5 p.m. Services will be followed by Military Honors conducted by the USMC.
