Omar D. "OD" Bosley Obituary
OD (Omar D.) Bosley 1925-2017
OD left this world on June 14, 2017. OD was 91 years young and had a long life filled with family, friends, acquaintances and business associates that he loved and cared about over the years. OD had special nick names for those he cared about the most and the nick names were “very revealing' about the people when you stopped and analyzed OD's choices. Many people provided support and comfort over the years and he and the family are very grateful to all who gave him joy. Born Sept. 30, 1925 in Glenville, W.Va. and raised by his mother, Myrtle and step father Otis Jamison.
OD will be missed by so many including his wife of 69 years, Francis M Fincham Bosley; his daughters, Donna L Bosley Murray and Dora L Silvis (Patrick E Bell); grandchildren, Todd D (Amy) Bosley, Tami (Scott) Rike, Toby L Bosley, Geoff D. Bosley Murray, Jason Silvis and Rachel Bell; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Morgan, David, Jax, Isabella and Emily; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Jane Bosley; his brothers, Gerald (Violet) Jamison and Randall (Pricey) Jamison, and his special friend and buddy, Roy Marshall. OD was preceded in death by his son, Dave (David L) Bosley, his parents and step father, his brothers, Paul, Dale, Basil, Roger and sisters, Orlea and Leorgene.
ODs desire for independence enabled him to leave his birth place and the coal mines to join the Armed services spending two years on an Army ship as a medical attendant. After an honorary discharge from the service OD ventured to Ohio and he spent several years working at the Canton Corrugated Box Company in Canton Ohio while starting his own company Bosley Drain and Septic Tank Cleaning and eventually branching out and including a plumbing shop and services. After retirement, the company continued to be operated first by his son and now his oldest grandson.
With a visit to ODs house you knew you would always be offered a comfortable place to relax, a good cup of coffee and a great meal with lots of conversation. The conversation would many times evolve with showing of pictures related to the many fish caught or the deer, rabbits or squirrels hunted and eaten over the years. Early days were spent following the Cleveland Indians an ODs commentary during the games was often colorful but true.
