Age 77, is now pain free, his long battle with cancer is over. Dick was born to the late George and Mary Jane (Hale) Becherer on Aug. 19, 1934. As a young man, he worked at MaryAnn Donuts, A&P Grocery and the Singer stores. He retired from Saint-Gobain Abrasives. Dick was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and Kent State University. He served in the Marine Corps. A member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, member of the Knights of Columbus in Texas, President Emeritus of TRIO and Eucharistic Minister for Aultman. He was an avid golfer and fisherman.
Preceding in death were his first wife, Shirley (Schirack); twin sons, Richard and Robert; granddaughter, Amber; sister, Jackie Bergmann; brothers, James and Michael. He is survived by wife, Joan; sons, Mark (Laura), Christopher (Jennifer), Gregory (Beth); and daughter, Sheila (Vern) Guyer. There are 10 grandchildren, Joshua, Kelley, Charlotte, Johanna, Sarah (Tim), Sam, Susannah, Alex (Andrew), Becca, Scott (Ashley); brothers, Joseph (Joanne), Thomas (Kitty), Dan (Paula), Jeff (Patti); and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Witmer as celebrant and Fr. Edward Beneleit as con-celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5-8 p.m. in the Williams Funeral Home.
