Ronald Russell Rush
72, of Massillon, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, early Wednesday morning, Aug. 16, 2017. Born in Indianapolis, Ind., Nov. 8, 1944, a son to the late Albert M. and Jacqueline I. (Romine) Rush, the family moved to Shoals, Ind., before coming to Massillon in 1954. Ron graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1963. He served in the US Army, stationed at Ft. Gordon, Ga., and Ft. Knox, Ky., then overseas with the Second Infantry Division 1/9 Infantry in Korea before returning to Ft. Hood, Texas and receiving an honorable discharge. Following his military service he worked for BorgWarner, Inc., in Wooster, under a machinist apprenticeship program. At the same time he completed an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering. Ron worked briefly for Diebold, Inc., before accepting a position with Controlled Power Corporation of Massillon. This lead to a 32-year career with the company in positions that included designer, mechanical and electrical design supervisor, engineer, sales and quality manager/director, before retiring in 2001. He was a member of First Christian Church in Massillon and his professional memberships included the American Society for Quality. His passions were hiking, golf and billiards and social memberships included the National Rifle Association.
Preceded in death by his parents; his son, Ronald Eric Rush; granddaughter, Shanet Cherry and great-grandson, Eric Guilliams; Ron is survived by his daughter, Kimberly (Robert) Guilliams and son, Kenneth (Saundra) Reed, all of the area. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. Pastor Tom Fryman will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton. The family will receive condolences one hour prior to the services, from 11-12 p.m. in the funeral home.
