Therese Marie (Bourquin) Strabley
age 82, of Massillon, passed away on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 in Rose Lane Health Center. She was born in Canton on Sept. 25, 1930 to the late, George J. and Marcella J. Bourquin and was a 1948 graduate of Lehman High School. Therese was the co-owner of Strabley Builder's Supply for 34 years, retiring in 1999 and also worked as a realtor for 10 years. She was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Parish Council and founder of the St. Joan of Arc Food Cupboard. She was past president of the Catholic Service League of Western Stark County and was a board member of the Catholic Charities of the Youngstown Diocese. Therese was a member of the Massillon Women's Club and founder and former president of the Doctor's Hospital Service League. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Strabley; and two sisters, Doris Fabian and Regina Bourquin.
Survivors include her son, Michael (Diane Keller) Strabley of Massillon; daughters, Elizabeth "Betsy" (Thomas) Elum of Massillon, Christine (Jeff) Kirby of Columbus, Ohio, Rebecca Strabley of Massillon and Cynthia McDavid Strabley of Colorado; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her brother, Paul (Karen) Bourquin of Bradenton, Fla.; sisters, Sister Dolores Bourquin H.M. of Villa Marie, Pa. and Martha "Marty" Howard of Canton; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Rose Lane Health Center staff for the wonderful care and compassion given to Therese during her stay.
Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with inurnment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Rd. Akron, OH 44333 or any other .
