89, of Navarre, passed away at his home Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Born June 18, 1923, in Moffitt Heights, he was the son of the late Russell and Noma Baker. Vic attended Moffitt Heights School and Washington High School and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. In 1946 he married Maxine Rippel. Together with the help of his wife and family, he was the owner and operator of Sunny Slope Orchard. Vic was a member of Stanwood Community Church where he had served as an Elder on the church board. He was a past member of the Tuslaw Lions Club, Massillon Rotary, served on the Board of Directors of Peoples Federal Savings and Loan of Massillon, and the Massillon Salvation Army Advisory Board. His wife, Maxine, died in 1996; he was also preceded by his brother, Robert and sister, Marjorie Seiberling.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Greg (Sue) Baker of Navarre, Mark (Vicki) Baker of Canton, and daughter and son-in-law, Polly (Al) Bottomley of Dalton; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at Stanwood Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to celebrate a life well lived on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Stanwood Community Church, located at the corner of Stanwood and Alabama Avenue SW. His pastor, Rev. Dale Boston, will officiate. The family will then welcome guests at an open house at 12 noon, in the church's family center. They have suggested contributions be made in memory of Victor Baker to the Stanwood Community Church Memorial Fund, 14715 Stanwood St. SW, Navarre, OH 44662.
