Wayne "Frank"
age 76, of Plain Township, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. He was born in Canton on May 30, 1937 to the late Wayne E. and Mable (Wharton) Allen. Frank was employed with Sugardale Foods for 31 years, retiring in 1990. He then began working with the Headstart Program as a facilities director for 10 years retiring in 2000. He spent the next seven years as a custodian with Chagrin Falls School District and also was a substitute custodian with Plain Local Schools. Frank was a member of Canton Baptist Temple and an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was a handyman and was an excellent woodworker, carpenter and bricklayer. Frank enjoyed traveling to the North Georgia Mountains and helped coach his children's athletic teams when they were young. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Allen in 1997; and his mother-in-law, Gladys Seale in 2002.
Survivors include his loving wife, Shari (Seale) Allen, whom he married on Feb. 3, 1984; four children, Christine (Bill) Lindenbaum of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Todd (Debbie) Allen of Canton, Michele (Danjuma) Toyo of North Canton and Michael Hensley of Hiawassee, Ga.; grandchildren, Leah, Lindsey (Brandt), Ethan, Nicole and Kira; sisters, Doris Sweitzer and Karen Dominguez and father-in-law, Howard Seale. The family would like to send a special thank you to St. Luke Lutheran Community, Advantage Home Health Care and the Aultman Hospice Program.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel, 801 Pittsburg Ave. NW. Burial will follow in Warstler Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. on Friday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Pegasus Farm, a recreational facility for the handicapped, 7490 Edison St. N.E., Hartville, OH 44632.
