William R. Sheppard
age 88, of East Canton, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 at Infinity Hospice Care while vacationing in Las Vegas. He was born July 25, 1928 in England to the late Archibald and Agnes (Oliver) Sheppard. Bill left England at the age of 19. He drove truck for 55 years, retired and then became a crossing guard for 18 years. He loved his garden, gambling, bingo, cruising, traveling and sharing his stories. Bill also served as a Eucharistic minister for many years.
Bill is survived by seven children, Kathleen Sheppard, William (Sue) Sheppard, Victoria (Nancy) Sheppard, Patricia (Harold) Michel, Joseph (Eva) Sheppard, Barbara (Robert) Schustrich and Christine (Ancil) McCauley; brother Peter of Australia; half-brother John of England; 18 grandchildren, Robert, William, Kimberly, Angela, Daniel, Steven, Melissa, Nicole, Regina, Joseph, Robert, Megan, Michael, Colin, Sara, Kaylee, Lucas and Aidan; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Shirley (2006); one sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and Tony; and three grandchildren, Aaron, Amber and Ian McCauley.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Zamary officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in East Canton. Friends may call Monday, June 26, 2017 from 5– 8 p.m. at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to your choice of: St. James Catholic Church, Infinity Hospice Care, or St. Joseph's Adult Day Care Service.
