78, of Canton died unexpectedly while vacationing in Florida
Feb. 19, 2010.
He was born Oct. 29, 1931, in Canton, Ohio to the late Harry and Flossie (Haynam) Barber.
He was a graduate of Canton South; an Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict; a member of Canton First Friends Church; retired plumbing and heating contractor and former owner of Doerschuk Plumbing and Heating.
He did volunteer work for the Nomads of the United Methodist Church.
He was a national volleyball gold medalist with the Senior Olympics and enjoyed volleyball, golf, tennis and travelling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Thelma Powell and Ruth Nessler; and brother, Paul.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances (Graham) Barber; son, Jeff (JoAnn) Barber of North Canton; daughter, Pam (Bill) Colton of Waynesburg, Ohio; son, Dr. Dave (Heidi) Barber of Lexington, Ky.; grandchildren, Christa (Brad) Camilleri, Andrea and Emily Colton, Julia, Jody, Jennifer and Jayne Barber, Brooke, Kendall and Ellie Barber. Also survived by sisters, Dr. Martha Cook and Donna Furney; and brother, Robert.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at Karlo-Feucht Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Road NW, Canton, with Rev. Michael Hayes and Phil DiSabatino officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
