Clair E. Rehm
88, of Orrville, entered eternal rest, on Wednesday morning, Feb. 5, 2014, at Aultman Hospital, Canton, following a period of declining health. Clair was born June 20, 1925, in Orrville, the son of Leroy A. and Irene H. (Straits) Rehm and was a 1942 graduate of Orrville High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946 in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, and the occupation of Japan, following the end of World War II. He was united in marriage to M. Joann Kraft on Oct. 17, 1948, in Massillon.
Joann survives. Clair was an active member of Christ United Church of Christ in Orrville, and formerly served on the consistory and as an usher. He had been employed at the former C.S. Snyder and Sons, and Bob Snyder Ford Dealerships in Orrville, as a mechanic for over forty-two years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Orrville Jelly Seniors, and had enjoyed gardening, flowers, woodworking, and spending time with family, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Joann (Kraft) Rehm are three daughters, Marian (Chuck) Craft of Apple Creek, Sally (Ken) Hershey of Orrville and Carolyn Hall of Columbus; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Angela) Craft, Valeria (Curt Shumaker) Craft, Heather (Ric) Tompkins, Michelle (Donny) Savchuk, Amy (Tim) Hostetler, Josh (Jessica Giffin) Hall, Stacy (Wes) Gottke, and Brittany (Aaron Johnson) Hall; 14 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Don (Sonja) Rehm of Kidron. Clair was preceded in death by his parents; and a son-in-law, Greg Hall.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Christ United Church of Christ, 301 North Main Street, Orrville, with Pastor Randall Gehres officiating. Inurnment of ashes will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville, with military honors, at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Cremation will take place.
