Like all of you, I write this with a very heavy heart. Jen (Jennifer as I always called her) and I were lifelong friends growing up as kids in Dellroy. She was my third sister and we were inseparable throughout our young lives.
We spent countless hours, playing school (she was always Miss Chip-co the teacher), discussing boys, deciding on hairdos and, oh yes, the clothing calendar. If we had a dime for every minute we spent on the phone with each, neither of us would have ever worked a day in our adult lives.
Although years and distance separated us at times over the past two decades, I always knew she was just a phone call away. I was delighted when we reconnected recently but devastated by her news of her illness. We talked for a long time about the past, the present and the future. She discussed her options bravely and she felt so blessed to have a family who was so supportive of her in her time of need. My prayers go out to each and every one of you who have stood by her through these trying and difficult times.
I miss her already and look forward to the day when I can once again wrap my arms around her in heaven and feel the warmth of her friendship.
All my love and tears too,
Heather (Carpenter) Scott
