She was born Sept. 7, 1942 at Rochester Hospital in Beaver County, Pa. to Jimmie Lee Harriel and Leroy Powell Horace. She joined the First Baptist Church in Midland, Pa. at an early age. She enjoyed singing in the Children's Choir, attended Sunday School, went to Baptist Young Peoples Union and was active in the Junior Missionary. She attended school in Midland, Pa. before moving to Canton and graduating from McKinley High School. There she met and married George Smith and was blessed with 52 years of marriage.

Cassie leaves fond and loving memories with her devoted husband, George Sr.; sons, Stefan, George Jr., Jeffrey and Keith of Canton, Ohio; a brother and two sisters, Harriel Horace of Jacksonville Fla., Norma Jean Washington of Tallahassee, Fla. and Brenda Joyce Noel of McKinney, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other loving relatives and friends too numerous to name.
