George "Ed" Rainey
age, 89, of Massillon passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family Saturday, March 15, 2014. He was born March 10, 1925 in Los Angeles, Calif. to the late Virgil and Ora Belle Rainey. Ed proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Fresh Mark in 1986 after 26 years of service. Ed was a member of Canton Temple of Praise and McKinley Fraternal order of Eagles. He enjoyed gospel music, golfing and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred; sister, Jessie Griffin; and brother, Lloyd Rainey. Ed is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, Sandy (Bob) Keim, Linda (Sandy) Crawford and Mark (Tracy) Rainey; grandchildren, Malia, Erica, Lindsay, Kelly, Ty, Michael, Kaylynn, Alexis, Hannah and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Audrey, Carson, Maxton and John; step-children, Greg (Dee) Tritt and Tom (Katie) Tritt; step-grandchildren, Jason and Chris Tritt.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, March 20, 2014 in Canton Temple of Praise, 2800 Woodlawn Ave. NW Canton, Ohio 44708 from 10 to 11 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Matt Coutcher officiating. Burial to follow in West Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Canton Temple of Praise Vision fund.
