Arthur Charles Stark
age 71, passed away at home on March 15, 2014. Arthur was born in Akron on Jan. 13, 1943, the son of the late Paul Arthur and Ruth Ella (Groncy) Stark. He attended Buchtel High School, where he lettered in both baseball and football. A member of the Phi Delta Theta Society, he graduated from the University of Akron with a B.S. in Industrial Management in 1965. Also an ROTC-commissioned officer of the U.S. Army, he served in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia between 1965 and 1967 and was wounded in action. Arthur was honorably discharged in 1967 and received the stripes of captain. Arthur worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Akron for 35 years, from November, 1967 to February, 2003, where he was an executive and Global Manager in Industrial Management, traveling frequently throughout the United States and Europe. He subsequently worked in real estate at Howard Hanna in Canton. Arthur was a member of both The Chapel in North Canton for over twenty years, serving as a deacon and usher, and the Greentown Jaycees. In addition to his parents, Arthur is preceded in death by his son, Paul Earl, and his sister, Jeanne Long.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; his daughter, Jennifer, of Canton; his son, Thomas, of New York City; and his sister, Nancy (James) Denholm, of Rancho Marie, Calif. His exceptional spirit deeply touched his family, friends, and many members of the community. He will be greatly missed. His family wishes to thank Dr. Nader Botros and his team at RCSA; Dr. Mark McRoberts at Springfield Primary Care; Dr. Nathan Pennell at the Cleveland Clinic; Dr. Margie Gerena-Lewis, Dr. Anand Desai, and the oncology department at Summa; and the nurses and staff at Crossroads Hospice.
Arthur's family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, March 24 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home at 303 South Chapel Street, Louisville, OH 44641. The interment with full military honors will be held on Tuesday, March 25 at 11:30 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Greentown Volunteer Fire Department, in recognition of their emergency medical services, at 10100 Cleveland Avenue, Uniontown, OH 44685 or to Crossroads Hospice at 3743 Boettler Oaks Drive, Suite E, Green, OH 44685.
