James H. Phillips
age 78, of Malvern, Ohio. passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 in his home with his family by his side. He was born Jan. 15, 1936 in Pedis, W. Va. to the late Calvin and Ann Phillips. Jim retired from Sugardale Foods in 1983 after 30 years of service. He also ran his own home improvement business for almost 30 years. He was a member of the Louisville FOE and Jim loved to bowl, fish and hunt, especially with his sons.
Jim is survived by his wife of 20 years, Kandi (Steigerwald) Phillips, two sons, Calvin (Cheryl) Phillips of Robertsville, Ohio, Richard 'Rick' Phillips of Berlincenter, Ohio, two sisters, Joyce (Don) Brown and Ginger Brooks both of Canton, a brother, Ray (Rachel) Phillips of Texas, three grandchildren, Sasha, Nycole and Carlee. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Phillips and his two sisters, Virginia Church and Betty Hurley.
A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held at 12noon on Saturday, May 3 in the Stier-Israel Funeral Home of Louisville with Pastor Wally Anderson officiating. Calling hours will be from 10a.m.- 12noon Saturday morning at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Aultman Hospice Program, 2821 Woodlawn Ave NW, Canton, OH. 44708.
