Sally E. Grizer Obituary
Sally E. Hamilton Blythe-Grizer
age 84, of Canton, passed away on June 11, 2014. She was born 1930 in Plainfield, N.J., the daughter of William Donald Bassett and Ruth Miesmer Bassett Rauber. Sally graduated from North Canton High School in 1948, Heidelberg College in 1952, and Kent State University in 1983. She taught 2nd grade for 30 years in Parma, Ohio and Norfolk, Va., and Special Education at Plain Local in Stark County. Sally was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church and was in the Chancel Choir. She was also a member of Voices of Canton, Inc., former member of Canton Symphony Chorus, Canton Women's Club, Canton College Club, Stark County and Ohio Retired Teachers, Women's Committee of Voci, former mentor at Timken Early College High School, former ESL tutor, poll worker, and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International. She was chosen as Outstanding Teacher by Stark County Council of Exceptional Children in 1985.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Jack T. Blythe and Kenneth E. Grizer, and her children's father, William J. Hamilton. She is survived by her children, Christine Ann Rogan and William Donald Hamilton; grandsons, Samuel P. Rogan and Joshua M. Rogan; stepsons, Bruce E. Grizer and Keith M. Grizer; and step-grandson, Kyle A. Grizer.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel. Interment will follow at Greentown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ALS Association Northern Ohio Chapter or Canton Christian Home. Those wishing to share their condolences or a fond memory may do so at
