Captain Gary Lee Slinger
61, of Malvern, Ohio, passed away, Tuesday, July 1st, 2014, surrounded by family and friends at Affinity Medical Center. Gary was born in Massillon, Ohio, on Nov. 25, 1952, a son of the late Martha (Ream) and Roy L. Slinger. He worked at Nickels Bakery in Navarre 1972-1974, 12 Incorporated 1975-1989, Quest Rcovery in Massillon 2002 - 2010. He retired as a Captian in the Massillon Fire Department where he served from Jan. 1975 - Jan. 5, 2002. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and animals. He had nothing but good times on the Harley and watching football.
Gary is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Bixler) Slinger; a daughter, Loretta, wife of Eric Potts, of Massillon; a son, James "Slim", husband of Jamie Slinger, of Massillon; three grandchildren: Ms. Ashley Riffle of Canton, Heaven and Violet Slinger of Massillon; great-granddaughter, Rosalie Riffle; beloved cousins: Linda Marshall of Westerville, Lou Urban of North Canton, Stouffers of Columbus, GA; friends and motorcycle companions, Richard (Wendy) King and Crystal.
Funeral services will be held at the Deckman-Bartley Funeral Home, Malvern at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014. Calling hours will be Monday 9 - 11 a.m. at the Deckman- Bartley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Haut, Dr. Chou, Dr. Seese and their staffs for their wonderful care during Gary's illness.
