Ivan "Ike" Farrah Obituary
Ivan 'Ike' Farrah
age 81, of Louisville, passed away Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014. He was born Oct. 9, 1932 in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Ivan and Lorraine (Ramsey) Farrah. He was a member of the Fairhope United Methodist Church, Louisville Eagles, American Legion post #548 and the Mahoning Rd. VFW. He was also inducted into the Canton Slo-Pitch Hall of Fame in 2004. Ike was a graduate of Boardman High School and Muskingum College. He also served two years in the US Army Central Intelligence Agency. He taught and coached at Struthers and Barberton High Schools followed by head coaching tenures at Leetonia and Marlington High Schools. He was named Stark County Coach of the Year in 1964. Moving to Louisville in 1967, he served as assistant principal until being elevated to principal in 1974, until his retirement in 1985. After his retirement from education, he worked 10 years for the Timken Co.
Ike is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet 'Jan' (Heckert) Farrah, a daughter, Helen Huff, two sons, David and Paul Farrah, his five grandchildren, Kacey and Drew Huff, Nikki, Ally and Andi Farrah, a sister, Margaret (Pat) Martucci and a brother, Jim Ramsey.
In keeping with Ike's wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Wishes Can Happen, 1310 N. Main St, North Canton, Ohio 44720 or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kan. 66675.
