Ted was always appreciated as a quiet spoken gentleman. As a valuable team member at Michigan State he let his action on the football field speak for him. His HOF recognition was well-deserved in tribute to his days at Jackson and MSU. I always enjoyed catching up with him occasionally at various MSU football reunions. Always a team member and part of the Spartan family.

Dear Carole and family members, please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of our favorite Jackson Polar Bear! When I think of Ted I remember his quiet strength, both physically and more importantly strength of character. May you be uplifted by the many lives he touched during his lifetime and their kind expressions of caring. May God bless you and keep you in his loving arms.

CaroleI am so sorry for your lost.My older brother graduated with Ted in '61 and I had the honor of being in his first class at Jackson in the fall of '67. He touched and was respected by many at Jackson. On social media over the past few days, dozens of his past classmates and students told stories about him and offered their condolences. He was and always will be remembered has a good mentor to alot of us who had the privilege to be in one of his classes.I don't know if he knew how highly he was thought of and respected as a teacher, coach, and mentor. Carole,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I remember you and Ted as such friendly, caring people. I moved from Greentown and now live in North Carolina but saw this news on my Jackson facebook page.

John and I will miss Ted at our family gatherings, time spent together as cousins in Michigan and Ohio. John and Ted developed a close bond through their love of football and their friendly rivalry. Ted was a gentle man, a proud farmer with a love of the land. He had a great sense of humor which we always enjoyed. He enriched our family. I'm so thankful you had each other for the 42 years God gave you. You are in our thoughts, our hearts and our prayers. With love.

Condolences to you Mrs. Carol Rohrer. I was in grade school with Teddy, we called him that then.
I didn't really get to know him in the later years at Jackson. Everyone new him well, playing football. I always thought of him as as gentle Giant. I'm sure others did also.
My prayers are with at this time.

I've known Ted since I was a kid. I baled hay for him and his dad Dale for several years. They paid great - $1.00 an hour! Better yet, they let us get a drink of water between loads. You can't ask for more than that.
Ted and Bruce took me to a Michigan State game. I never realized what a great athlete he was until much later. He never mentioned any of his achievements.
As I went through school I knew Ted as a coach, an occasional wrestling partner, and as the school attendance officer. He mentored me, challenged me, and encouraged me all along the way. I'm sure he did the same for everybody he came into contact with.
In the years since I'd run into him occasionally and talk about farming and business.
Our prayers are with his family. God has called home a good man whose life was well-lived. I know I speak for many others whose lives were made better for having been blessed to have known him.
Well done Ted!

May God bless your family as Ted blessed the hallways of Jackson High back in the 70s. Ted was a great guy who cared about the kids he watched over...and boy did he watch over us! I "enjoyed" his caring sense of discipline on only one occasion and I had nothing but respect for him. He was truly one of a kind who made a difference in the lives of those lucky enough to get to know him. He's in the Jackson High Hall of Fame for his football prowess, but I'll always remember Ted as a caring man who took care of making the high school a better place and those around him better people.
