Age 90, died Wednesday evening at his home. Born in New Berlin, Ill., May 2, 1920, to the late Edna and John W. Foutch Jr., he received an engineering degree from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill. John served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was commissioned as a Lieutenant J.G. at Annapolis. He served in the Pacific Theatre as the executive officer on submarine USS Picuda SS-382. John moved to the Canton area in 1948 to work for the Timken Company. He worked in a variety of capacities, including project manager at Timken Research. John retired in 1985 and continued to serve the company as a consultant after retirement. John was a JCI senator who held membership in the Masons, Craftsmans Boat Club and numerous professional organizations, including the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn (Boyd) Foutch; his son, Bradley Foutch of Chicago; a niece, Susie Ewald of Painesville Township; as well as numerous cousins in Illinois and Texas.
There will be a private service for family members Monday. Friends may call at the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. Donations in John's memory can be made to the charity of one's choice.
