Age 18 of North Canton, died on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010 from a tragic accident in Oxford, Ohio. Stephen was born Feb. 22, 1992. He was a freshman at Miami University, and was majoring in mathematics with a minor in actuarial sciences. He is a 2010 graduate of Jackson High School. Stephen ran road races with his father and sister from the age of seven. He also participated in triathlons, bicycle races, and was a member of the Stark County Bicycle Club. He was a previous member of both the North Canton and Louisville YMCA swim teams, where he won numerous medals and ribbons. He was a prior record holder for the Jackson Memorial Middle School cross-country team. Stephen played soccer for NJSL, Jackson Select Soccer, and Penine Premiere Soccer Club. He also played soccer for Jackson High School for four seasons, and was the place-kicker on the football team his senior year. His favorite hobbies included swimming and boating. Stephen shared his enthusiasm and zeal for life with his family and friends and was always sure to make at least one person laugh everyday. He was a loveable person who did not judge others, but treated everyone with respect. No matter if you knew him very well or barely at all, his memory and the impression that he left on our lives will never be forgotten.
Stephen is preceded in death by grandmother, Margaret 'Peg' Donohue, and Aunt, Susie Filicky. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Stephen and Marilyn (Filicky) Fenstemaker; grandparents, Norbert Fenstemaker and Thomas and Joan (McArdle) Filicky; siblings, Morgan Fenstemaker (16) and Evan Fenstemaker (14); aunts and uncles, Michael Fenstemaker, Scott and Kathie (Fenstemaker) Schaumburg, David and Jellina (Teo) Fenstemaker, Dr. Eric and Janet (Keith) Fenstemaker, Sarah (Fenstemaker) Johnson, Dean and Mary (Filicky) Walther, David and Elaine (Michel) Filicky, Mark and Kathy (Yeagley) Filicky, Bob and Laurie (Filicky) Wolfe, and Brad Filicky. Stephen also had fifteen cousins who will miss him forever.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at Saints Philips and James Catholic Church in Canal Fulton with Rev. Fr. John F. Warner and Msgr. John Zuraw officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville.
