Joan M. (Gosiewski) Souliere Obituary
Joan M.
(Gosiewski) Souliere
age 74, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011 after a courageous eight month battle with cancer. She was born on May 19, 1936 in Canton, Ohio to the late Victor and Josephine Gosiewski and was a life resident of Canton. Joan was a 1954 graduate of Canton Central Catholic High School. She retired in 1996 from the Stark County Recorder's Office after 17 years of service. Joan was a member of Christ the Servant Parish. Over the years, Joan was known for her many talents which included sewing, crochet, cross-stitching, and making quilts. She put many smiles on many faces as she utilized these talents to make unforgettable wedding gifts, birthday presents, infant blankets, and much more. Her later years were occupied with trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas, where she was content with just a chair and a slot machine. Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Raymond G. Souliere on Dec. 15, 2000; brothers-in-law, Eugene A. McKelley and Harold S. Roach; sister-in-law, Margie Gosiewski; and her favorite dog, Shelby.
Survived by her sons, Tim and Joel; sisters, Dolores McKelley and Audrey Roach; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Jan Gosiewski, all of Canton; sister-in-law, Josette Rodak of Louisville; brother-in- law and sister-in-law, Joseph and Mary Ann Souliere of Toledo; and numerous nieces and nephews who fondly referred to her as 'Aunt Joanie'. The family wishes to thank the nurses and aides from Harbor Light Hospice, Caring Senior Service, and Stone Crossing Nursing Home for their compassionate care.
Family and friends will meet for a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 11 a.m in Christ the Servant Parish at Our Lady of Peace Church with Msgr. Lewis Gaetano as Celebrant. Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, March 11, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christ the Servant Parish.
