Stephen B.'Papa' Mehaffie
Walked in to the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, on April 29th., after many years of illness with his loving family at his side. He was a life resident of Canton and a 1961 graduate of Glenwood High School. Steve was a former co-owner of Mehaffie's Hardware and Steve's Bicycle Repair for over 30 years. He was very generous and donated many bicycles to the needy. Steve was a member of Christ the Servant Parish, McKinley Eagles, and a Precinct Committeeman for 20 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Survived by his wife of 49 years, Jan (Preda) Mehaffie; five daughters and four sons-in-law: Sue and Thomas Langenek of Canton, Jacquelyn and Joseph Klejka of Bethel, Alaska, Mary and Eric Kerzan of Louisville, Nancy Mehaffie of Canton, and Stephanie and Jerry Wright of Hartville; 15 wonderful grandchildren: Brittny Baechel, Stephen Kerzan, Cody and McKenzie Moss, Presley and Courtney Wright, Jessica, Jennifer, Jeremiah, Jessie, Joshua, Joan, and Jordan Klejka, Courtney Noland, and Claire; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Judy Mehaffie of Canton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, E. Charles and Marian Mehaffie.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Church at Christ the Servant Parish with Msgr. Lewis Gaetano as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday form 6-8:30 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to defray funeral cost. Condolences may be made to:
