Dorothy J. Hill
Age 85, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012. Dorothy was a lifetime resident of Canton, and was born March 28, 1926 to the late Thomas and Margaretta Cartwright. She was a graduate of Timken High School, class of 1945. Dorothy loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her family. She was an avid traveler and especially enjoyed the beach. Upon the sudden passing of her husband, Dorothy went back to work at AEP. After 22 1/2 years of perfect attendance as a PBX supervisor, she retired. She lived life to its fullest and Dorothy loved and was loved by all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, 'the love of her life' Donald Allison Hill; second husband, Charles 'Tom' Hill; sister, Wanda Kemmerling; brother, Richard Cartwright and step-daughter, Sue Burton.
Dorothy is survived by children, Deborah (James) Ferber, Donald (Patsy) Hill and Dawn (Joseph) Selogy; step-children, Pat (Bim) Brendel and Lari Jeanne (Buck) Floyd; grandchildren, Allison Ferber, Cari (Mike) Wittman, Ashley Hill, Steve (Lisa) Selogy, Joanne (Kris) Ferrell and Joe (Tracy) Selogy; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Walther, Beverly (Tom) Shelley, Carole Mowrer and Penny (Steve) Mardis and brothers, Danny Cartwright and Tommy (Joyce) Cartwright.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Reedurban Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Darrell Holmes officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at the Welch- Sekeres-Lewis Funeral Home (2523 W. Tuscarawas) and Tuesday morning 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Donations may be made in Dorothy's name to the or Reedurban Presbyterian Church. Friends and family can sign the online guestbook at www.wslfh.com.
